Chelsea striker Shim Meuka is nearing a loan move to Celtic that will see him spend the remainder of the season in Scotland. For the young forward, this marks his first foray into senior football on loan.
BBC Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella reports that Meuka will travel to Scotland shortly after completing a medical.
Prior to this move, the forward also put pen to paper on a new contract with Chelsea that extends until 2033. This demonstrates the London club's commitment to Meuka's long-term future while the loan allows him to gain crucial first-team experience.
This summer, there was notable interest in Meuka from at least 12 clubs, including teams from five of Europe’s top leagues, with enquiries coming from Scotland, the Netherlands, and the Championship. After weighing up all options, the player and Chelsea representatives settled on a switch to Celtic.
