Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso is content with the depth of his midfield following the closure of the transfer window.
Alonso highlighted the experience of Jordan Henderson and the youthful energy of Valentino Barco:
Valentino is young but brings a fantastic energy. Hendo has the calmness and right mentality. He has a great understanding of the game and is getting closer to earning more playing time.
We also have Reece James and Malo Gusto. Additionally, there’s Reggie Watson and Mahdi Nicol-Jazuli from the academy. We've got plenty of options, quality, and competition.
He further spoke about 23-year-old striker Emmanuel Emega, who joined Chelsea from Strasbourg in the summer:
He’s young and has some special qualities. We hope he starts to feel more comfortable and takes the next steps that will allow him more playing time. Young players need to be patient, but opportunities will surely come their way.
