Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has heaped praise on Morgan Rogers ahead of Sunday's clash with Arsenal.
This summer, Chelsea signed Rogers, a player who had previously been on the radar of their next opponents, Arsenal.
Xabi Alonso commented:
When planning the squad, important decisions have to be made, and signing Morgan was definitely one of them. Bringing in a player of his calibre, considering both the present and the future, is a significant step.
He will be a key player for us over the next six to seven years. He has already had a great impact on the team.
The coach also addressed Chelsea's possession stats in their first two Premier League matches, noting that they had less of the ball than Fulham and Brighton. Nevertheless, the Blues secured two victories:
We are capable of adapting to what is required in specific situations. There will be matches where we see plenty of the ball but struggle to score.
We are only at the beginning of our journey. Having played two matches and won both, we know we can play better.
