Chelsea's head coach Xabi Alonso has given a commendable review of the club's performance in the summer transfer market.
The Spaniard declared the first phase of team restructuring complete and emphasised that many plans discussed in May and early June have come to fruition.
Xabi Alonso stated:
We can be very pleased with the entire transfer window. Much of what we started discussing back in May and early June has been achieved.
The first phase, which we accomplished during this transfer window, turned out to be very well-balanced. It is now complete, and at this moment, it’s a good outcome for both the present and the future.
Alonso was specifically asked about the last-minute failure to secure the signing of Monaco midfielder Lamine Kamara:
I think we're ready and satisfied with the squad and its depth. We have a good balance of players at different stages of their careers.
Now we need to build the right energy over the week to deliver results on weekends. We’ve started the season well, and we now know exactly who remains in the squad. This clarity is important.
Chelsea made a strong effort to sign Kamara before the window closed, but ultimately, the transfer fell through.
