Chelsea's head coach Xabi Alonso has weighed in on Mykhailo Mudryk's future, with the club currently in discussions with Leeds. So far, the Londoners have not settled on a decision about the winger and are choosing to take their time.
Alonso stated:
We'll see. We still have time to make a decision and there's no need to rush into many matters. When the right moment arrives, we'll make a decision. Until then, it hasn't happened.
Mudryk is now eligible to participate in official matches after having his doping rule violations lifted over the summer. Prior to this, the Ukrainian had been sidelined from competitive action for over a year and a half.
The 25-year-old is currently training separately from Chelsea's main squad, alongside a group of players whose futures at Stamford Bridge remain uncertain.
Leeds remains the frontrunner for Mudryk's signature, looking to secure the winger on loan after seeing their initial offer declined. Negotiations are ongoing, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Leeds is preparing a fresh attempt to reach an agreement with Chelsea.
Leeds' head coach Daniel Farke chose not to comment directly on Mudryk but did confirm that the club is active in the transfer market:
We're always open to good players. I’m happy with my squad, but until the last day of the transfer window, I’ll be striving to ensure the club has the strongest team possible.
I don't want to say too much about positions and player profiles because that just drives the price up. We're working on this behind the scenes.
