Nottingham Forest manager Oliver Glasner has publicly reflected on the summer transfer window, stating that he is "very happy" with the club's recruitment efforts.
The financial foundation of the summer campaign for the Tricky Trees was the record sale of midfielder Elliot Anderson to Manchester City for £116 million. The funds generated allowed the hierarchy to secure high-profile arrivals, including central defender Usman Diomande, striker Liam Delap, and Colombian full-back Daniel Munoz. Concurrently, the club successfully trimmed its wage bill by parting ways with a group of fringe players.
I am very happy and genuinely pleased with how this transfer window has gone, the Austrian coach emphasized. Our key aim was to reduce the overall squad size whilst simultaneously signing top-class players with strong character. I believe we have accomplished all our set goals.
One of the standout signings was Daniel Munoz, who joined from Crystal Palace for an estimated £22 million and reunited with Glasner, under whom he previously played. The 30-year-old full-back is currently working on regaining optimal fitness after undergoing surgery on his nasal septum to restore normal breathing, necessitating training and playing in a special protective face mask.
He is fully available for selection, Glasner explained.
Daniel returned late from international duty following the World Cup, so his pre-season has been a bit disrupted. He wore the protective mask in the match against Everton due to the recent surgery. As a result, he hardly played during the summer and clocked just 55 minutes against the Toffees. He missed the match against Manchester City as negotiations for his transfer were already well advanced at that point.
