Chelsea's Moisés Caicedo discusses his new leadership role as captain, acknowledging his preference for actions over words and citing Thiago Silva as a key influence.

Moisés Caicedo has opened up about the expectations that come with his new role as a leader for Chelsea.

The Ecuadorian midfielder admits that while he's not particularly talkative, he fully recognises that offering constant encouragement to his teammates is a crucial part of his captaincy. Caicedo shared how he is navigating this significant responsibility.

I think every coach tells me that I should communicate more on the pitch. They know I'm a leader, but it would be better for me if I started talking more to the players. I try really hard, but it’s not in my nature. So when I can’t speak up, I just try to show even more through my actions.

We learn from our predecessors, such as Thiago Silva. He’s been an example for us, always trying to support us in any situation. The way he led here has truly impressed all of us. Now, being one of the captains is a huge pleasure for me and a special feeling for my family. Even if I'm not the type who likes to talk a lot, I enjoy proving everything through my actions, so others can see my example.
