Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has expressed his frustration following the draw against Everton. The Red Devils had taken the lead on two occasions but ultimately let their advantage slip away, conceding a late equaliser to Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Speaking to the club's official website, Carrick said:
We’re disappointed right now. We came here to win and created opportunities to do just that on two occasions. I understood that this match would go to the very end — that’s often been the case when I played here.
United now turn their attention to a crucial Champions League fixture against Sabah, followed by the impending Manchester derby against Manchester City.
Carrick added:
Thursday will be a completely different game, and next Sunday will be another one. There were many good things we can take forward from today’s match. We had our moments against Hull City and Ipswich, and there were some decent signs against Everton too.
There are things we need to improve on, of course. The work continues, and now we prepare for Thursday.
For the match against Everton, Carrick fielded the same starting XI that had thrashed Ipswich 5-2 just a week prior. Following this result, Manchester United now sit 11th in the Premier League.
