Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has firmly denied speculation regarding his potential departure from the club. The Reds' boss stated that he pays little attention to chatter about his position following the team's exit from Brighton in the third round of the League Cup.
The former midfielder emphasised that external pressures do not affect him:
It doesn't matter to me. I know the club, I know my role. I understand the level we need to be at for the owners and what they expect. I also understand the expectations of our fans. All of this is absolutely clear to me.
Carrick also shut down any speculation regarding his future at Old Trafford:
As for my future, the hierarchy, and how much time I've got in this position — there's not a single thought in that direction. Not even a thought along the lines of 'how much time do I have left?' Thinking that way in my role is simply absurd. That's not even on my radar. We live in an age of instant reactions and snap judgments. That's normal, it's the reality. But in my world, that's not there.
