On Tuesday, AZ fell to Sunderland with a narrow 1-0 defeat at the Stadium of Light. Despite the loss, Smith delivered a standout performance that caught the eye of numerous scouts.

In addition to representatives from Liverpool, scouts from Chelsea, Tottenham, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, and Brighton were also present, all there to keep a close eye on the promising Dutch talent.

The young wonderkid is valued at approximately €60 million. Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola is actively seeking a midfielder to fit his high-pressing style and is weighing up a move for Smith in the upcoming January transfer window.
