The father of Hull City winger Mohamed Bellumi, Lahdar Bellumi, has boldly claimed that his son is ready to make the leap to one of Europe's elite clubs.
Former Algeria international Lahdar indicated that the family would not stand in the way of a transfer should a serious offer come in:
Right now, all his thoughts are with Hull City. However, if we receive a serious offer, we won't oppose his departure.
With all due respect to Hull, given his current level, he deserves to be playing for a bigger club that is in contention for domestic and European trophies – such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, Marseille or Manchester City.
The 24-year-old winger joined Hull from Portuguese side Farense in the summer of 2024. His first two seasons in England were challenging due to injuries; he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear, followed by issues with his hamstring and a muscle tear.
However, this season has started off significantly better for the Algerian – he has already notched two goals and provided two assists in six matches. This impressive form earned him his first call-up to the Algerian national team.
Lahdar Bellumi also shared insights into his son's lifelong dream of carving out a career in Europe, revealing how they coped with criticism from back home:
Mohamed has always dreamed of being a professional footballer and wanted to play in Europe. I told him: 'Do what you think is right.' We took the criticism he faced in Algeria in our stride.
He has always aimed to fulfill his dream. I think what he has achieved so far is the best response to those who said he only plays because of his name.
He always tells me: 'I’ve realised your dream – I became a professional, moved abroad, and I'm playing at a high level.' And this is just the beginning.
With his performances for Hull, Mohamed has earned a call-up to the Algerian national team. I hope he will be a great asset to the national side and continue to bring honour to the Bellumi name.
