Liverpool forward Alexander Isak has reflected on the team's 2-0 triumph over Ipswich, a match in which he scored twice within the first nine minutes, lifting his goal tally to three for the current Premier League campaign.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Isak expressed his thoughts:
We were waiting for our first win. We talked about the need to start matches well, as we’ve struggled with that recently. So, scoring two quick goals was the perfect start for us.
After a solid pre-season, I think we are gradually starting to play the way we want. We aim to be aggressive in attack and constantly press the opposition's defence. Today, we managed that. We scored two goals, but we could have netted more.
Isak also reflected on his challenging first season since joining Liverpool for £125 million. The forward had a tough time last season due to a lengthy injury lay-off, managing only three Premier League goals—equalling that total already this season:
It was tough. I suffered a serious injury, and overall the season was challenging. I wanted to perform well at the World Cup and then kick off the new season on a high. I believe I have managed that. Now, all of that is behind me, although going through that period wasn’t easy.
