Former Manchester United captain and Sky Sports expert Roy Keane has praised Manchester City’s display after their emphatic 3-0 triumph over Liverpool in the Premier League.
Keane highlighted that the team made a significant statement amidst recent chatter, noting that while Liverpool's red card aided City, it alone didn’t dictate the result.
“There’s been a lot of noise over the past few weeks, but today the team really made a statement.
The red card certainly helped, but you still need to show your quality. All three goals were fantastic,” Keane remarked.
'Pep who?'
The veteran pundit noted how confidently Manchester City have started the season, despite concerns surrounding Pep Guardiola’s departure and the situation with Rodri.
This victory will be a huge boost for City. They’ve started the season well, which is great news for Enzo Maresca.
At this stage, you’d have to ask: ‘Pep who?’ We’ve even stopped debating the worries that arose after Pep left and during the Rodri situation,” Keane stated.
Doku changed the game
Keane specifically praised Jeremy Doku, who came off the bench and significantly improved the team's attacking play. The Belgian winger was noted for his aggressive runs and ability to trouble Liverpool’s defenders.
Doku made a huge impact, constantly taking on defenders and creating opportunities. He effectively changed the course of the match after coming on, adding to the effect of the red card,” Keane emphasised.
The 3-0 victory serves as a commanding result for Manchester City in their quest for top honours in the Premier League.
