Former England striker Peter Crouch has given his insight ahead of the much-anticipated Manchester derby. While he believes the attack from Manchester United can create significant issues for Enzo Maresca’s City, he still sees the reigning champions as the clear favourites.
Michael Carrick's side has picked up four points from their opening three Premier League fixtures, but they've already conceded six goals. Conversely, City have won all three of their matches and currently sit atop the table on goal difference.
Speaking on That Peter Crouch Podcast, he stated:
I genuinely think this match could be a turning point for United.
Even though City has won all their games, I don’t believe they’re currently at their absolute best. United has the potential to cause them serious problems.
Just look at Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Bruno Fernandes, and Marcus Rashford. They boast players who can be incredibly dangerous.
However, when it comes to predicting the outcome, Crouch opted for a City win:
Honestly, I’d pick United under normal circumstances. But my predictions tend to backfire on me each week. I think I’ve been too lenient with them, and now it’s coming back to bite me.
So, I’ll go for Manchester City to win 1-0.
The Manchester derby will take place at Old Trafford this Sunday.
