Kevin De Bruyne has voiced his agreement with the sentiment that Arsenal are currently the best team in the world. The Napoli midfielder made his comments following a 0-1 home defeat to the Londoners in the Champions League.
In an interview with CBS Sports, a journalist suggested that Napoli put up a decent fight considering they were up against possibly the best team in the world.
De Bruyne responded:
I agree. They are the champions of England and only lost in the most recent Champions League final on penalties, so we know how strong they are.
I think we did fairly well, to be honest. When we tried to play our game, there were moments when we posed a threat. Of course, at times we had to defend deep, and in the second half, we allowed them too much and dropped too low.
But then we created our own chances again, which for me is progress compared to what I saw in the earlier matches. We are starting to play better, and that's a positive sign.
The only goal of the match came from Martin Odegaard in the 75th minute. With this victory, Arsenal made it five wins on the bounce at the start of the season.
