Tottenham's forward Omar Marmush is feeling the heat as expectations mount for him to become the club's leading scorer. Following a lackluster display against Nottingham Forest, where the match ended in a goalless draw, manager Roberto De Zerbi opted to reposition him at left winger, bringing in Dominic Solanke to play through the middle.
Despite the tactical shift, Marmush's performance remained uninspired, creating minimal danger and failing to threaten the opposition's goal. Tottenham now finds themselves in a worrying rut, unable to find the net for the fourth consecutive match.
The once-prolific striker, who had been scoring more than a goal a game for Eintracht prior to his winter switch to the Premier League, has seen his scoring touch elude him since arriving in England. Ahead of the clash with Everton, De Zerbi publicly challenged the player.
"In terms of scoring, Marmush is not Harry Kane, but he should be netting more than he has over the past two seasons. He scored plenty in Frankfurt and is capable of doing so again. He needs to demand more from himself. Even simple goals—he must adjust his approach after getting used to scoring spectacular ones.
Every top striker understands the value of finishing easy chances and being able to position themselves for close-range strikes. All goals count the same. Unfortunately for Marmush, he is yet to show this quality, and Tottenham fans are all too aware of it.
