In a significant boost for Manchester United, Mason Mount has resumed training ahead of their important Premier League fixture against Ipswich Town. The 27-year-old midfielder returned to full training with Michael Carrick's squad on Tuesday, according to reports from GiveMeSport.
The England midfielder has been sidelined since early August, having sustained an injury during a friendly against PSG. Initial assessments indicated a foot bruise, but further medical evaluations revealed a minor hamstring strain, which kept him out for two weeks and meant he missed the disappointing defeat to Hull City (0-2).
This summer, Manchester United's midfield underwent a major overhaul, with an estimated total spend of over £150 million. The club welcomed new talents including Andre Santos from Chelsea, Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa, and Carlos Baleba from Brighton. The only guaranteed starter remains captain Bruno Fernandes, intensifying competition in the centre of the pitch.
Since Carrick took charge, Mount has made a total of seven appearances (with only two starting berths) and has logged 200 minutes without registering any goals or assists. Previously, he had been working in a deeper role, but with the arrival of Baleba and the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo, Mount will now face a tough challenge in securing his place in a highly competitive rotation.
