Feyenoord's sporting director, Devi Rigo, has confirmed the interest of top clubs in the team's defender, Jivairo Read.
This summer, the 20-year-old defender caught the eye of both Manchester City and Bayern Munich, yet the Dutch club rebuffed all inquiries.
In an interview with AS, Rigo elaborated on the summer transfer offers.
We received a solid offer from Roma for our right-back Jivairo Read. Bayern and Manchester City were also interested. There was also interest in Zekiiel from clubs in France and Spain. Additionally, there were Valente and Moussa, who became a target for Al-Ittihad. They made a large offer, but without a bank guarantee. However, we decided not to sell them as their time here is not over yet. We know that if our team continues to progress, their value will increase even more.
Nottingham Forest also attempted to acquire Read but faced a refusal. Manchester City scouts were watching the player in November, but after the summer transfer window, no further steps were taken.
Read's current contract runs until 2029, with Transfermarkt valuing him at €25 million. So far this season, he has made five appearances, providing one assist.
