15-Second Brief
Tottenham are interested in Como's captain Lucas Da Cunha, who helped thrash Man United 4-1 in the Champions League. The 25-year-old midfielder is also being monitored by other Premier League sides, but Como will only consider very lucrative offers.

Tottenham are showing interest in Como's captain Lucas Da Cunha, who recently played a key role in the Italian club's stunning 4-1 victory over Manchester United in the Champions League. The 25-year-old Frenchman has caught the eye of several Premier League teams.

The Londoners are gradually finding their feet after a shaky start to the season. Roberto De Zerbi's team failed to win any of their opening six Premier League matches but has since followed up with back-to-back wins against Coventry (3-1) and Chelsea (2-0).

Despite this uptick in form, Tottenham are continuing to explore options to strengthen their squad.

One potential new recruit is Da Cunha, who can play both in central midfield and on the right flank.

Da Cunha shines against Man United

On 21 October, Como pulled off a remarkable 4-1 win against Manchester United in the Champions League, with Da Cunha emerging as one of the standout performers.

The Frenchman made an immediate impact, assisting Nico Pasa in the second minute to open the scoring.

By the end of the match, Da Cunha had garnered a score of 7.9 from FotMob, ranking third among all players on the pitch, only behind goalscorers Nico Pasa and Jacobo Ramon.

He completed five passes in the final third, made nine successful passes that bypassed United’s defensive lines, and demonstrated excellent duelling ability.

It's particularly impressive that he showcased such skill in a position that isn’t his primary role.

Como reluctant to let their captain go

Tottenham's interest in Da Cunha is backed by reports from the Italian press. However, they are not the only interested party in the midfielder.

Negotiating with Como won’t be easy, as the Italian club holds their captain in high regard and won't part with him unless they receive substantial compensation. To initiate discussions, an offer almost too good to refuse will be necessary.

Moreover, Da Cunha himself is content with his situation at Como, where he has emerged as one of the team’s leaders.

At this stage, Tottenham are merely weighing up a move, with no focused negotiations between clubs yet underway.

Nevertheless, the Frenchman’s performance against Manchester United highlighted why he is regarded as an attractive option for Premier League teams.
