Crystal Palace are in advanced negotiations with Brugge for Joel Ordones, pulling ahead of Aston Villa in the race for the 22-year-old defender. The discussions centre on a loan deal with an obligation to purchase for £24 million under certain conditions.

Crystal Palace have made significant strides in negotiations with Brugge for the signing of Joel Ordones. The London club is currently ahead of Aston Villa, who are also keen on the 22-year-old centre-back.

According to Sky Sports, discussions are centred around a loan deal for Ordones with an obligation to purchase for £24 million, plus bonuses. This obligation will come into effect upon the fulfilment of the agreed conditions.

Aston Villa have also been in talks with Brugge this week, but at this juncture, Crystal Palace have moved ahead in the pursuit of the Ecuadorian international.

Ordones has been on the radar of the Eagles for some time, with Palace considering him as a potential replacement for Marc Guehi back in January.

The defender’s contract with Brugge has another three years to run.
