Chelsea are in negotiations to sign 18-year-old Atalanta defender Onest Ahanor for €40 million, with an immediate loan in the Premier League until June 2027.

Chelsea are reportedly pushing forward in their attempts to secure the signing of young central defender Onest Ahanor from Atalanta.

The deal could be worth around €40 million, a figure that more than doubles the €17 million Atalanta paid to Genoa just a year ago. Should the transfer go through, the plan sees the young Italian heading out on loan to another Premier League club for vital minutes and adaptation before officially joining Chelsea’s ranks in June 2027.

In his debut season at the senior level, Ahanor made 35 appearances for Atalanta across all competitions, contributing one goal to his name. His progress has not gone unnoticed, even catching the eye of the Italian national team staff, as he received his first call-up in June. Ahanor managed 50 minutes on the pitch across friendly matches against Luxembourg (1-0) and Greece (1-0).
