15-Second Brief
Newcastle and Everton may look to sign Inter midfielder Petar Sucic in January. The Italian club initially refused to sell in the summer but is now ready to consider a lucrative offer. Sucic, however, remains determined to fight for his starting place.

Newcastle and Everton have the opportunity to revisit discussions about signing Inter Milan midfielder Petar Sucic. The Italian club, which previously refused to sell the Croatian, may now be reconsidering its stance.

According to information from Croatian outlet Sportske Novosti, both Premier League clubs remain keen on the 22-year-old and are weighing up a move in January.

Sucic joined Inter from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2025 for around €15 million. In his debut season, he made 50 appearances across all competitions, finding the net four times and providing four assists.

His performances have attracted attention from clubs in the Premier League. Last summer, Newcastle and Leeds were prepared to offer between €35-40 million for the midfielder, with Everton also expressing interest.

However, Inter's hierarchy firmly rejected inquiries from potential buyers, indicating that Sucic was not for sale.

Since that time, the midfielder's situation has shifted. This season, under coach Cristian Kivu, he has mainly been used as a backup, starting just two out of five matches.

Competition in midfield remains fierce, with Nicolò Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, Curtis Jones, Piotr Zielinski, Aleksandar Stankovic, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan all vying for playing time.

Despite this, Sucic is not in a rush to leave Milan. He believes he can convince Kivu to give him more starts.

Nevertheless, the club's position is now less rigid than it was in the summer.

Following the departure of sporting director Piero Ausilio, who played a key role in bringing Sucic to Inter, the club appears open to considering a sale for the right price. A specific figure has yet to be disclosed.

If Sucic continues to see limited action in the coming months, the option of a January transfer looks increasingly likely.

Sportske Novosti notes:

If clubs find out that Inter is willing to entertain a sale, Sucic will likely not have to search for a new team for long.

However, he is not one to back down at the first hurdle. He always wants to win and is determined to prove his worth where he is now.

Thus, much will depend on Kivu's decisions and Sucic's performances leading up to the winter transfer window.

Newcastle, now under the management of Matthias Jaissle, and Everton will continue to monitor the situation closely. Should Inter truly open the door for negotiations, the English sides could make another attempt to secure the Croatian's services.
