Chelsea plan to sign 23-year-old Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott in January. Xabi Alonso wants him in his squad, but Bournemouth are reluctant to sell and are asking for a record £100 million.

Chelsea are confident of signing Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott in the upcoming January transfer window.

The 23-year-old recently made his debut for the England national team but has been sidelined for five weeks due to a thigh injury. Currently, he is tied to Bournemouth until the summer of 2028, yet he has shown reluctance to extend his deal.

Blues boss Xabi Alonso sees Scott as a perfect fit for his squad. The player himself is reportedly keen on the prospect of teaming up with fellow talents Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers.

However, Bournemouth are not keen on losing their star player in the middle of the season. The club remains hopeful of persuading him to sign a new contract, potentially including a release clause similar to the one that facilitated Antoine Semenyo’s transfer to Manchester City for £62.5 million.

Should the transfer go through in January, Bournemouth would demand around £100 million, which would set a record sale for the club.

Chelsea have shifted their focus to Scott after missing out on a summer move for Lamin Kamara and are optimistic about securing the signing despite the hefty price tag.
