Former Stoke City manager Tony Pulis believes that Arsenal's organisation without the ball is their greatest asset in the quest for the Premier League title. He feels Mikel Arteta's men currently appear more dependable compared to their closest rivals.
The reigning champions have kicked off the new season with three straight victories, most recently overcoming Chelsea with a 2-1 win despite trailing at one point during the match.
Pulis said:
I think the main difference between Arsenal and the other teams at the top of the table right now is how solid they look when they're out of possession. When they lose the ball, they track back just as quickly as any other team, instantly restoring their shape.
Arteta’s coaching is superb. They can attack very rapidly, but as soon as they lose the ball, they're right back in position. It's very hard to break them down.
He particularly highlighted the disparity between Arsenal and other title contenders:
Looking at Chelsea, Manchester City or Liverpool, they still seem somewhat vulnerable to counter-attacks. With Arsenal, I don't see that. They are very well organised.
Of course, things that are out of control can heavily influence the course of the season: injuries and refereeing decisions can change situations drastically. But right now, Arsenal looks very, very good.
