Jason Cundy believes Manchester United should shift their focus to Bournemouth's left-back Adrien Truffert. The talkSPORT pundit made this suggestion amidst the news that Lewis Hall has signed a new contract with Newcastle.
Last summer, United considered strengthening their left flank after a midfield overhaul, with Hall initially identified as a priority target. However, Newcastle were not willing to part ways with the defender following the departures of Anthony Gordon, Bruno Guimaraes, and Sandro Tonali.
As a result, the Manchester side opted against bringing in a new left-back. The club has high hopes that Michael Carrick can utilise Patrick Dorgu, Carlos Baleba, Diogo Dalot, or Noussair Mazraoui in that position should it become necessary.
United had planned to revisit Hall as a target in the summer of 2027, but journalist Ben Jacobs has reported that the player has come to terms on a contract extension with Newcastle.
In light of this, Cundy has urged the Manchester giants to take a look at Truffert:
He is genuinely a fantastic player. I believe he could be the best left-back in the country right now.
Truffert will definitely get offers from big clubs. And you know who should go after him? Manchester United.
I saw him last season, so I'm not just making judgments based on his current form. He’s a bloody good left-back. I've seen enough of Truffert in the Premier League since Milos Kerkenez moved to Liverpool.
Of course, Bournemouth will demand serious money. But Manchester United need a left-back.
