Ex-MU coach Rene Meulensteen opposes the appointment of Antonio Conte, warning of an impending crisis, while highlighting systemic issues within the club's hierarchy.

Rene Meulensteen, the former Manchester United coach, has issued a firm warning to the club's hierarchy about the potential appointment of Antonio Conte, suggesting it may prompt yet another rapid downturn at Old Trafford.

In a recent interview with talkSPORT, Meulensteen shared his strong views:

I would not support such an appointment at all. I think it would provide only a very short-lived boost, before everything crumbled incredibly quickly, knowing how Conte conducts his affairs.

Meanwhile, uncertainty surrounds the future of Michael Carrick following the disheartening 3-0 defeat against Bournemouth, leading the club to explore potential candidates for his replacement. Eddie Howe, along with Julian Nagelsmann and Fabian Hurzeler, are reportedly among the frontrunners.

Meulensteen believes the core issue lies within the club's hierarchy, insisting that the instability cannot be resolved merely by changing managers. Conte himself previously stated he would only consider a return to management under the right circumstances.
