Manchester United have entered the race for Borussia Dortmund defender Daniel Svensson. According to Fussball Daten, the English club is keeping a close watch on the 24-year-old Swede's performances.
Interest in Svensson is also shown by Arsenal, Juventus, and AC Milan. Among these, it is the Italian side that has been the most proactive, having already approached Borussia to inquire about the conditions for a potential transfer.
Svensson's contract with Dortmund runs for another three years, and the German club is reportedly open to offers in the range of €35–45 million.
Primarily a left-back, Svensson is versatile enough to play in central midfield and on the right flank as well. United see strengthening the left side of their defence as a key part of their ongoing squad rebuild.
However, the club has previously indicated that they do not plan to bring in a new left-back in January. Their top target for that position remains Lewis Hall at Newcastle, with the Mancunians intending to revisit that option next summer.
At this stage, United's interest in Svensson appears to be in the observation phase, with no negotiations or offers reported as yet.
