Liverpool are reportedly enamoured with Ronald Araujo’s performances since his arrival at Anfield. The Uruguayan defender may have only played three competitive matches for the club, but he has already made a significant impression on the powers that be. This news comes from SPORT.
Araujo made his move to England on loan from Barcelona. During the summer transfer window, Liverpool needed to find replacements for several key players, notably Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate, Curtis Jones, and Andrew Robertson.
New head coach Andoni Iraola has predominantly opted for younger, yet established players. However, the signing of Araujo stands as an exception to this approach. At 27, the Uruguayan brings vital experience, leadership qualities, and versatility to the squad.
The defender is capable of operating effectively both at the heart of defence and on the right flank, providing Iraola with reliable options across two positions.
At Liverpool, they believed that regular game time and a fresh atmosphere would help Araujo rediscover his best form after a challenging spell at Barcelona. So far, these expectations have been met in full.
Ronald made his first start for Liverpool in the match against Ipswich Town, where he showcased an impressive display. Winning 9 out of 10 duels, he recorded the best stats among all players on the pitch. Additionally, Araujo triumphed in all six aerial contests.
He also contributed significantly with seven clearances, matching the best performance of the match alongside one of his teammates.
With Araujo’s recent performance, both Iraola and the club hierarchy are confident in their decision. Should the defender maintain such high standards, the club will seriously consider making his move permanent.
Media reports suggest that Araujo’s loan deal includes a buy option, which Liverpool can activate in June 2027, with the potential fee set at €55 million.
