Former Liverpool defender and Sky Sports expert Jamie Carragher has voiced concerns over the Merseyside club's midfield setup as they prepare for the upcoming Premier League season.
Under the management of new head coach Andoni Iraola, Liverpool have won only 2 of their 4 pre-season matches. Next up for the Reds is a clash against Como, who are managed by Cesc Fabregas, before they kick off their Premier League campaign against Newcastle.
Club legend Jamie Carragher has highlighted that the current trio of midfielders creates gaps in the centre of the park:
I look at this midfield trio and I worry. Individually, Gravenberch, Florian Wirtz, or Szoboszlai are excellent players. But as a midfield three... they are far too attack-minded and keep pushing forward. In pre-season, opponents have been able to cut through the centre with ease. I doubt that such a midfield will allow Liverpool to compete for the title.
