Chelsea have officially confirmed that 17-year-old winger Ryan Kavuma-MacQueen has joined Portsmouth on loan until the end of the 2026/27 season. The promising talent becomes the ninth addition to the Championship club this summer, donning the number 25 jersey.
Kavuma-MacQueen has been part of Chelsea's youth setup since he was eight years old, and the 2025/26 season proved to be a breakout year for him. He made regular appearances for the U18 side while still in his school years.
He was instrumental in helping the U21s finish top of the Premier League 2 table, and notably scored a brace in the U18 Premier League national final against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
The winger made his first-team debut as a substitute in Chelsea’s impressive 7-0 victory over Port Vale in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
In the summer of 2026, manager Xabi Alonso included the young star in the squad for their pre-season tour of Australia and Asia, where Kavuma-MacQueen started in the opening match against Western Sydney Wanderers, which Chelsea won 6-4.
Now, he heads to the Championship for crucial first-team experience. Chelsea’s hierarchy have wished their academy product all the best at Fratton Park and will be keeping a close eye on his progress.
