Millwall's head coach Alex Neil has issued a warning to potential suitors for Femi Aziz, insisting that the winger won't be leaving the club on the cheap.
Hull City, newly promoted to the Premier League, and several European clubs are reportedly taking an interest in the Nigerian international.
Aziz made his move to Millwall from Reading in 2024 for just over £1 million, and he has enjoyed a standout season in the Championship.
Currently, the London club values their player at around €20 million.
In an interview with NewsAtDen, Neil expressed that the growing interest in Aziz hasn't surprised him at all.
“When the transfer window is open, I don’t think we ever get distracted. Good players attract interest, it’s simply the way it is,” said Alex Neil.
“It’s no secret that there was interest in Femi back in January, and offers were made for him. Jimmy, in supporting the team, the club, and myself, decided that he wouldn’t accept offers for any of our key players at that time, which was great. That ultimately allowed us to finish third, and Femi was a fundamental part of that success,” he added.
“But, like any player, every footballer has his price,” noted the manager.
“What I will say is that if someone tries to lowball or buy him cheaply, we don’t need to sell anyone. In that sense, we are in a strong position,” he emphasised.
“Honestly, I’m surprised there hasn’t been an auction for Femi yet. You’re buying goals and assists, and Femi has been as good as any player at this level over the last season or two. Let’s see what the next few weeks bring,” summed up Alex Neil.
