Back in late July, the London club made initial overtures towards a potential deal, but Liverpool were not keen on parting with the Dutchman at that time.
However, the situation has shifted. Liverpool are now open to discussing a sale if they receive a lucrative offer. A crucial factor in this could be the anticipated transfer of Bradley Barcola from PSG—if the Merseysiders complete that deal, it could smooth the path for Gakpo's exit.
Cody himself has reportedly communicated his interest in a move to Tottenham through intermediaries, providing an additional boost for Spurs' hierarchy.
The Londoners value Gakpo's versatility; he can play on the left flank or through the centre, which has become increasingly important following a serious injury to their primary target, Eli Junior Kroupi.
In parallel, Tottenham are close to finalising a deal for winger Savinho from Manchester City. The Brazilian is expected to cost around £70 million, with the total fee potentially increasing.
Gakpo's transfer is also estimated to be in the region of £70 million. Sources indicate these expenditures comfortably fit within Tottenham's budget for the current transfer window.
Manager Roberto De Zerbi is eager to have Gakpo in his squad and has been assured that key signings will be wrapped up ahead of the season kick-off. The player has already been briefed on the personal terms being offered.
