The summer transfer window is reaching its final stages. The question of when clubs can register new players becomes crucial, as each country has its own deadline.
This year sees a significant variation in dates. Clubs in Germany and France must conclude their business by 31 August. Meanwhile, England, Spain, and Italy will close their windows on 1 September. Russia's registration period will extend even longer.

Closing dates and times in the major leagues
Times are given in British Summer Time (BST), with Moscow time in brackets.
- Germany (Bundesliga) and France (Ligue 1): 31 August at 19:00 (21:00 MSK).
- Italy (Serie A): 1 September at 19:00 (21:00 MSK).
- Spain (La Liga): 1 September at 22:59 (00:59 MSK, 2 September).
- England (Premier League): 1 September at 23:00 (01:00 MSK, 2 September). The window opened on 15 June.
- Russia (RPL and First League): 11 September (exact date to be confirmed by the RFU regulations closer to the deadline).
Why don’t the deadlines match?
In world football, there isn’t a universal window closing day. FIFA only sets general parameters, with specific dates determined by national federations according to their domestic calendars.
For instance, the Russian Premier League kicked off as early as 24 July. Clubs have managed to play official matches for nearly two months before the transfer window closes.
The English Premier League starts on 21 August, and its deadline coincides with the second round of the season.
