Speculation surrounding the potential departure of Liverpool's 17-year-old winger Rio Nguema has been firmly quashed. Despite the Merseysiders actively looking to strengthen their attacking flanks, the young talent remains a key part of the club's long-term plans.
Insider Fabrizio Romano clarified on his YouTube channel:
Just to clarify: whatever happens – whether Barcola makes the move or not, and even if they sign two wingers (as Liverpool intends to add two attacking players, especially if Cody Gakpo joins Tottenham) – Rio Nguema is untouchable.
Nguema was never close to a switch to Bayern Munich this summer. He is seen as an absolutely crucial part of both the current and future project at Liverpool.
At the same time, Liverpool is in negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain over the transfer of Bradley Barcola. According to Romano, the Merseysiders have verbally agreed to personal terms with the French winger, but the clubs have yet to settle on a fee, with PSG demanding £145 million, while Liverpool is unwilling to go beyond £120 million.
Moreover, Liverpool has cooled their interest in 18-year-old Ibrahima Mbaye, deeming the simultaneous purchase of two PSG players too costly.
