Brighton suffered a 0-2 defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League.
Head coach Fabian Huerzeler labelled the outcome a missed opportunity, noting that his side made two errors that ultimately decided the match.
Liverpool struck twice within the first 21 minutes, marking the end of Brighton's nine-match unbeaten run. The visitors, however, had a few promising moments and were hopeful of a positive result.
After the final whistle, the German tactician stated that Brighton could have come away with points from Anfield if not for their own mistakes.
“It was a missed opportunity. I think everyone felt that we could definitely achieve something in this game. In the end, we made two simple errors which allowed them to score two goals. Additionally, we had enough chances to score ourselves,” said Huerzeler.
The coach underscored that defensive blunders played a crucial role in the defeat, believing that based on their opportunities, Brighton could have anticipated a better outcome.
Despite conceding two goals, Brighton continued to search for a way back into the contest. However, Liverpool defended resolutely and thwarted the visitors' attempts to capitalise on their chances.
“We kept fighting and tried to get something from the game. They defended well in their area. They have individual quality, but looking at our game, I believe we did everything necessary. Luck was not on our side today,” the Brighton manager added.
