Coventry City head coach Frank Lampard has expressed his satisfaction with the club's transfer dealings after their promotion to the Premier League. With the transfer window now shut, he is eager to concentrate fully on his developing squad.
In a recent statement, Lampard said:
I’m pleased with the players we’ve brought in. It was crucial for us to do significant work over the summer — that’s absolutely normal for teams aiming for promotion. We’ve achieved that.
From my perspective, it’s beneficial that the transfer window has closed; we can now put our focus on the squad.
However, some of the new signings only joined Coventry towards the end of the transfer period and are yet to hit their peak performance levels.
Lampard added:
When you sign players, especially closer to the end of the window, the challenge is not only integrating them into the squad and familiarising them with our style of play. In some cases, we also need to get them into optimal physical shape.
Unfortunately, when a player is in a state of uncertainty due to a possible transfer, they might miss pre-season matches or train at a lower intensity. Consequently, some need to catch up. We’re working to do this as swiftly as possible because we certainly need results.
