Cole Palmer apologised to Chelsea fans for receiving his first red card during the derby against Tottenham (0-2), which means he'll miss the next matches for the team.

Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer has issued an apology to the club's supporters following the first red card of his professional career in the Premier League match against Tottenham, which ended 0-2.

The England international was on home soil at Stamford Bridge when he picked up two yellow cards, resulting in his dismissal in the 80th minute, leaving the Blues down to ten men in a heated London derby. Following the match, Palmer took to Instagram to express his regret:

“Not good enough from my side. Learn and live! Sorry. Moving on.”

Palmer's initial booking came in the 71st minute following an incident with Tottenham's Matheus Fernandes. He faced an early exit just nine minutes later, after a reckless challenge on former Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, which earned him a second yellow. This dismissal marked a significant moment for the 24-year-old, as it was the first time he had been sent off in his career.

Tottenham capitalised on their numerical advantage, with Matisse Tchouameni scoring the decisive second goal to secure the victory. Earlier, Chelsea's goalkeeper Mike Penders had inadvertently handed Spurs the lead with an own goal following a corner kick.

This defeat snapped Chelsea's six-match unbeaten streak at home in the Premier League, while Tottenham celebrated only their second win in 37 matches at Stamford Bridge. Looking ahead, the Blues face tough fixtures against Liverpool and Manchester United, with Palmer now suspended for those crucial matches.
