15-Second Brief
Aston Villa defeated Norwegian side Viking 3-1 in the Champions League, marking their 12th consecutive home win in European competitions and rising to second in the group standings.

Aston Villa's march through the Champions League continues as they clinched their third win on the trot, dispatching Norwegian club Viking with a convincing 3-1 scoreline at Villa Park.

The opener came in the 23rd minute when Ross Barkley headed home a pinpoint corner from Ibrahim Mbaye, sending the home fans into raptures.

Just ten minutes later, Emiliano Buendia doubled the lead with a coolly taken penalty, awarded for a foul on Alisson, leaving Viking with a mountain to climb.

The second half saw a bizarre own goal from Henrik Heggheim, who misdirected a dangerous cross from Alisson into his own net. Viking managed a late consolation through Peter Christiansen, but it was too little, too late.

This victory marked the 12th consecutive home win for Aston Villa in European competitions, equalling a record set by English clubs in the current century.

Under Unai Emery, the Villans have now secured 20 wins from 30 Champions League matches, a feat matched only by Real Madrid, who achieved this milestone in 29 games.

Aston Villa currently sit second in the Group stage table, but a stern test awaits as they prepare for a challenging away fixture against Barcelona in the next round.
