17-year-old defender Marley Salmon has signed his first professional contract with Arsenal. The London club announced the news on the birthday of their academy graduate.
Salmon expressed his delight, stating:
This means a lot to me. There’s been a lot of hard work behind this, with highs and lows, but I’m incredibly proud.
The defender also acknowledged the support of his family:
This is a special moment for my family too. It's a reward for them as well, as they've invested so much time and effort in me. This achievement reflects their hard work just as much as mine.
Salmon has been part of Arsenal's system since 2019, joining when he was 11. Having progressed through the academy, he made five appearances for the first team last season.
Notably, Salmon featured as a substitute during the closing stages of the Champions League match against Club Brugge.
