Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Warton has spoken out about the swirling transfer rumours surrounding him. The 22-year-old has been linked with moves to Manchester United and Chelsea, yet he claims he never considered leaving this summer.
Warton stated:
To be honest, I wasn’t thinking about a transfer at all this summer. I try to stay away from all that, and my agent hasn't told me much about it. I really don’t want to know.
If I'm not going anywhere, I don't need that information. Otherwise, it just sits in your head, and you start thinking about it too much. So I didn’t even think about another club.
The midfielder further noted that the speculation surrounding his departure had no impact on his preparation for the new season:
I’ve been here the whole time, training and looking forward to the new season with our new manager, Pierre Sage, the new staff, and the new players.
I have three years left on my contract with Crystal Palace. As far as I know, I can spend all three years here unless another club comes in or a new deal is offered to me. I don’t look too far ahead. I live from week to week, from match to match. I’m happy here, playing and trying to get better.
Warton joined Crystal Palace from Blackburn in 2024 for £18 million and has since made 99 appearances for the club across all competitions. During his time in London, he has clinched the FA Cup, the UEFA Europa Conference League, and the FA Community Shield.
