Manchester City, Newcastle and Aston Villa are showing serious interest in Alex Baena and are weighing up a transfer for January. However, Atletico are not willing to sell the Spaniard mid-season, and the player is content in Madrid.

Atletico midfielder Alex Baena is attracting interest from Premier League trio Manchester City, Newcastle and Aston Villa. All three clubs are considering a bid for the 25-year-old Spaniard during the upcoming January transfer window.

According to journalist Ruben Hurtado, the interest follows Baena's impressive performances at the World Cup and a stellar start to the new season, where he has already bagged three goals.

Manchester City are keen to bolster their attack following the summer departures of Omar Marmoush and Savinho. The Spaniard is seen as a potential candidate to enhance Enzo Maresca's options up front.

Newcastle, on the hunt for reinforcements after the exit of Anthony Gordon, are also eyeing Baena as a target for January.

Aston Villa's interest is significantly influenced by Unai Emery, who knows Baena well from their time together at Villarreal. Furthermore, with Morgan Rogers' recent move to Chelsea, the Villans are in need of additional attacking firepower.

However, securing a transfer this winter poses quite a challenge. Atletico is taking a firm stance and has made it clear they are unwilling to let Baena leave mid-season for any price.

On his part, the player is content with his role at the Madrid club and is not actively seeking an exit, despite the interest from England.
