Chelsea could part ways with defenders Wesley Fofana and Malo Gusto in 2027. Coach Xabi Alonso plans a defensive overhaul amid concerns about their inconsistency and injuries.

Chelsea are considering the sale of defenders Wesley Fofana and Malo Gusto in 2027 as coach Xabi Alonso plans a defensive overhaul.

Journalist Dean Jones reported that the club's management is seriously concerned about the reliability of their players and is evaluating potential changes ahead of upcoming transfer windows.

Both French players have faced heavy criticism following their recent exit from the EFL Cup at the hands of Liverpool. In that match at Anfield, Fofana conceded a penalty and missed the decisive kick in the shootout.

Fofana has struggled to establish himself at Stamford Bridge due to recurring injuries. Gusto's future is also uncertain, as the Londoners' scouts are already searching for a new right-back in Europe. However, both players remain part of Alonso's plans and played in the recent 2-0 victory against Manchester United.

In the past, Gusto has attracted interest from Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, and Tottenham. However, Chelsea have yet to receive any official offers. A final decision on both players has not yet been made.
