Bournemouth captain Adam Smith hailed the 3-0 victory as a reflection of the team's true character, praised Evanilson, and reminded that an important match against Sunderland lies ahead.

Bournemouth captain Adam Smith is relishing the reaction from his team in the wake of their disappointment against Chelsea. Following a convincing 3-0 victory against Sturm, the defender expressed to TNT Sports that players and supporters alike were fired up for a result, and the team truly earned this triumph.

“We've been waiting for a result like this for a long time. The fans were buzzing, the players too, so we’re really pleased with our performance,” Smith remarked.

The captain also addressed a moment leading to Evanilson's goal, recalling how he delivered a cross which the striker converted with a header. While Smith acknowledged that his delivery wasn't perfect, he was full of praise for the finishing touch.

“It wasn’t the best cross I’ve ever put in, but I got it into the box. Evanilson finished brilliantly — a superb header. He deserves that goal for the hard work he puts in throughout the season. I'm sure there will be plenty more moments like that for him ahead,” the captain said.

According to Smith, that goal provided Bournemouth with the catalyst they needed to drive forward to victory. Although the team showed signs of fatigue in the second half, the quality of the substitutes helped maintain their performance level.

Reflecting on the setback against Chelsea in the previous round, Smith admitted that the squad was left frustrated by their performance. They discussed their shortcomings amongst themselves and managed to respond positively on the pitch.

“Last weekend, we really disappointed ourselves. As players, we let the team down, and we knew that. We talked to each other and showed the right reaction today. This is the real Bournemouth,” Smith emphasised.

However, the defender was quick to caution against overvaluing one successful outing. He reminded everyone that the week is not over yet, and that a tough challenge lies ahead.

“We’ve got a big match against Sunderland coming up, and we need to take all three points. It’s crucial we carry this momentum into the next game,” Smith added.
