Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso shared his thoughts following his side's second consecutive defeat in pre-season, as the Blues fell to a 1-0 loss against Juventus, thanks to Edon Zhegrova's stunning long-range strike.
The Spanish tactician highlighted the lessons he's learned from his stint at Real Madrid and discussed how he is shaping the squad's development in London:
We need to learn quickly. It's essential to adapt to the players at your disposal. We have to create something new together with the club and the players.
We've only been together for three weeks, so it's premature to draw any major conclusions, but we are making small strides forward. In the future, there will definitely be more.
Alonso also analysed Chelsea's performance against the Italian side, admitting that the available squad is still a work in progress:
I think we started quite well. The first 30-35 minutes were under our control, and we created a few chances, but at the end of the first half, as happened last Saturday, we lost our way a bit. In the second half, with many substitutions, we lost our grip, and the rotation disrupted our stability.
But this is definitely a process: everyone is getting game time. We have two more matches before heading back to London, and then we will be the ones to kick off the season. Right now, we have an important part of the team, but we are still missing a few key players.
