Xabi Alonso has poured cold water on reports suggesting that Estevao is unhappy with his playing time at Chelsea. The manager of the London club emphasized that the 19-year-old Brazilian is training well and is fully committed to the team's efforts.
At a press conference ahead of the League Cup clash with Leeds United, Alonso was asked about the speculation coming from Brazil regarding the young forward's discontent.
Alonso responded:
No. Este is ready, he trains well. He had a very good outing in the last match, creating a great opportunity. He is fully engaged with the work and shows a very good attitude every day.
When asked if he is counting on Estevao to play a significant role this season, Alonso was adamant:
Yes, 100%. Due to his potential. He is still very young, currently going through the adaptation process and must learn quickly. It’s going to be a long season.
The Spaniard was also questioned about whether he had held a personal conversation with Estevao regarding his playing time:
You know, personal discussions should remain private. But the season will be long. We need players who have the desire and determination to prove every day that they are ready to take on this challenge. That’s the kind of atmosphere we want to create here.
