The Champions League is set to introduce a special patch for players making their first appearance in the continent's prestigious tournament. This initiative was unveiled by journalist David Ornstein ahead of the impending season.
The small patch will be placed on the players' shirt sleeves and will symbolize their debut in the Champions League. This project is being implemented in collaboration with Fanatics Collectibles.
After their debut match, the patch will be integrated into a unique collectible card, which will also feature the player's signature. These cards will then be included in sets available to collectors and fans.
Michael Rubin, founder and CEO of Fanatics, commented:
Together, Uefa and Fanatics will continue to create new products for fans and collectors. Projects like the Debut Patch will allow them to connect even closer to their favourite players and clubs.
The men's Champions League will launch this programme in the 2026/27 season, with similar patches expected to be introduced in the women's Champions League from the 2027/28 season.
