Barcelona is keeping a close eye on the situation surrounding Lisandro Martinez. The Catalan club may attempt to sign the defender for free in 2027, according to Sky Sports journalist Sasha Tavolieri.
Recently, the 28-year-old Argentinian took aim at the hierarchy at Manchester United following their 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. Following his criticism, Martinez engaged in discussions about his future with his agent.
The player's representative has already signalled interest to potential suitors. However, Martinez later issued an apology after a conversation with manager Michael Carrick and club officials.
Barcelona has long been familiar with the defender’s profile and holds him in high regard. Nevertheless, his departure from United isn’t set in stone as the English club has the option to extend his contract by another year.
Martinez joined Manchester United in 2022 and was part of the Argentinian team that lifted the World Cup.
