Aston Villa forward Nicolas Jackson has hailed his teammate Johan Manzambi following an impressive 6-0 victory over Fenerbahce in the Champions League.
The Senegalese striker netted a brace in the match and expressed his satisfaction with Manzambi's performance, hoping that the duo will combine for many more goals in the future.
"He's a top-class player. I'm really pleased we get to play together. I hope we can score plenty more goals together," Jackson stated in an interview with TNT Sports.
Jackson also spoke highly of Ibrahim Mbaye, his national teammate for Senegal, praising the good rapport between them. He expressed hope that the young player will see more first-team opportunities.
"He's an amazing footballer. We play together for the Senegal national team, so we understand each other well. We communicate a lot. He’s progressing, and I hope he gets more game time. He's very quick. It's great to have him with us," the forward remarked.
Further reflecting on the match against Fenerbahce, Jackson revealed he was keen to take a penalty in pursuit of a hat-trick. However, he acknowledged the need to adhere to the established penalty taker hierarchy.
"Yes, I wanted to take the penalty, but there are rules. The most important thing is the team's victory. Hopefully, I'll get the chance for a hat-trick next time," the striker concluded.
