Newcastle are considering offering Joe Willock a new contract as he enjoys a strong start to the season. As reported by Football Insider, the club intends to engage in talks with the midfielder, should he sustain his current level of performance until the end of 2026.
The 27-year-old's situation has transformed significantly over the past few months. Back in the summer, Willock was on the brink of departure from Newcastle, having found himself sidelined under Eddie Howe. However, with Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes departing the club, fresh opportunities have opened up for him in central midfield.
New manager Matthias Jaissle has opted to give the former Arsenal man a chance, and the midfielder is already making his mark with crucial goals in both the Premier League and the League Cup.
There were reports linking Willock with a summer move to Besiktas, but Jaissle was reluctant to let the player go. His current contract runs until 2027.
If Willock continues his fine form, Newcastle may extend his deal until 2029.
The club is also looking into new contracts for Lewis Hall and Jacob Murphy.
