Chelsea's Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer shared a light-hearted moment following their 6-3 victory over Leeds United in the League Cup.
The English duo turned the game on its head after coming off the bench at halftime with the Blues trailing 0-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Things took a turn when Leeds doubled their lead shortly after their introduction, but a penalty kick soon revived Chelsea's hopes.
Palmer confidently slotted home the penalty, and not long after, he equalised. His teammate Rogers also put in a stellar performance, contributing four assists, including one for Palmer's second goal. With their efforts, Chelsea cruised into the fourth round of the cup.
After the match, the pair took part in a joint interview at the touchline, where it was announced that Palmer was named man of the match, much to Rogers' mock dismay.
Morgan jokingly protested:
“Mate, I had four assists. Can't believe this, it’s just madness. He scored from a penalty!”
Cole responded with a grin:
“I sparked the comeback. I’ll definitely mention you, give you a shout, and say the award should have gone to you.”
Rogers continued his playful indignation:
“This is madness. Don’t even mention me. I was just passing through. It’s a crime!”
When asked if he would award Palmer the commemorative trophy, Morgan quipped:
“Unfortunately, yes, I’ll hand it over. Everything here is rigged.”
